amen brother disco band

A short while ago Irish DJ & editor, Niall Kirk aka Amen Brother Disco Band got in touch with me and suggested I check out his SoundCloud page, which I duly did. Niall's done a whole bunch of edits and a few mixes, all of which are unquestionably worth checking out. What's interesting about Kirk is that he's a digger with an ear for lesser known gems; like say Sergio Rizzolo, Parlor & JAZ, Niall hunts where others fear to tread. That said, his recent re-jig of Phantom Slasher's 'Sweet Gerry Dynamite' suggests he's also keenly aware of what other edit meister's have done; The Slasher edit is a personal favourite but Niall's done good and tightened the glorious track up. These are not Housed up edits, instead he ventures forth in that other, 'purer' direction which sees the producer exposing a hidden groove or enhancing the original by re-arranging a few things and removing messier parts. I maintain there are exciting producers working in the clubbier end of things, just as there are on the more Cosmic and adventurous side, Niall's one of the latter... Check out his reading of Curt Boettcher's 'California Music' below and get on SoundCloud and start following the man.
