Southern Freeze

For the longest time I thought 1981 to have been the greatest year in Music, I was around 13 at the time and New Wave was already dominating the airwaves and club dance floors, sometimes, though wearing the fresh, angular and shiny new uniforms of a breed with new statements to make, musically, bands were still working the funk and boogie of the Disco era out of their systems combining their fresh sounds with electro and punk. This often made for an exquisite combination of cold machine age synths playing soul infused grooves. Anyway I think the Brits owned the early 80's and todays track, if you dont know it, is a brilliant example of Brit New Wave Funk. Freeez of course are better known for their track 'IOU', but 'Southern Freeez' was always the one for me. Ingrid Mansfield Allman does a fantastic job of the breazy brit vocals. The track is off their 1981 album of the same name and was released on Beggars Banquet (though actually it had been released the year before on Pink Rhythm Records). John Rocca the band leader would later record as Midi Rain. OK so what exactly does doing the 'Southern Freeez' look like?
