Zues Strikes a Hit
Originally produced by Vangelis for his 1977 album 'The Demis Roussos Magic', 'I Dig You' is an uplifting dance floor shaker which gets a little attention from the ever entertaining and brilliant Todd Terje. The original also featured on Rob da Banks top class 'Sunday Best' compilation from a few years back. I always thought Demis was like a living legend, in a sort of 'Clash of the Titans'/Greek Mythology way, rather than as a musical genius, but the truth is he produced a number of Disco and Balearic classics and to find him being dug up by Todd, Rob, Mancuso, Belle & Sebastian and others is no real surprise. The track doesn't feature the man's typical faint inducing wail (overly romantic housewives with weak hearts need not download this), which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective. Plus i don't see the caftan making a big comeback in club circles anytime soon so fanatical interest should be tempered with caution.
