Tuggin' the Mongoose

While we're doing Japanese, Mule Musiq is unquestionably a new force (label) to be reckoned with and Sly Mongoose, who feature are one of those hot new Tokyo based contenders who have a bunch of new genre defying moves. 'Snakes and Ladder' originally came out in 2003 on Locarno Records (Sly's own label) then it got picked up by Mule Musiq who re-released it last year with a piano heavy, ass shaking Rub 'n Tug remix. The remix is jammed with attitude, galloping live drums, zapping arcade fx and groovy dubbyness. One of last years top remixes, no doubt.

Great tune but I am sick to death of it. For a variation check out the awesome Bad Pulse or Delusion Habit or Monster Smoke. All far superior in my opinion. They're a live band as well, which is just mad. There was a gig a few months back that had them, Cro-Magnon and DOuble Famous all on the same bill. Shit the bed.

I've probably heard it every night that I've been to over the past year and it works every time without fail but sweet jesus I could do without hearing it. Even Rub 'n Tug aren't playing it anymore. That Maurice Fulton remix of Alice Smith is going the same way and now that the minimal/Faith posse have discovered it, it'll probably get rinsed even further. Get those new Editions Disco edits. Phat!
