Nordic View

Finnish producers Putsch '79 are clearly influenced by the likes of Metro Area & Daniel Wang, as well as the same much older artists who influence these two Nu Disco greats, but of course they have their own distinctive sound, usually very warm keys, lots of analogue retro synths, the addition of live instrumentation, exquisite melodies and a masterful attention to detail and deep space atmospherics. There's also that definite Italo interest but filtered through their somnambulent nordic perspective. Their first album came out in 2004 on Clone, perhaps a mixed affair, certainly it had a number of high class standout tracks. 'Penguins are Deep', from the album, is a superb item that's been getting some major replay from me, it contains a lovely diced up sample of ... well see if u can guess, that gets toyed around with here, adding a sweeter edge to the track. Deeep for sure. In more recent times, the outfit have been playing around with vocals a lot more, with mixed results, for me their power lies very much in their music, the stuff underneath the vocals, but that's just me... check this out if you didn't the first time round...
