Vanished

Whenever I get tracks from Sound Signature, Theo Parrish's well advanced label, I'm conscious of having to listen deeper, knowing it's unlikely the tracks will get much play on the dancefloor, knowing I'll probably have to give it a couple of spins before I get into it, but also knowing that it's likely that it will stick with me for a long time, that the track will out live those instant hits that grab me on the first listen. It's a generalisation, but generally it's also true. Jerry The Cat's 'I Only Have Eyes For You', surprisingly doesn't challenge in the usual Theo kind of way, since I guess it's not Theo for starters, it's a heady mix of slow loose 50's jazz and broody electronics. On the flipside 'Vanished', equally bruised, equally complex, is a beautiful Balearic classic in the making. Ok I say Balearic, it's Detroit right, and ambient'ish, but it has that wistful drift about it, electronic drift, that brings to mind some of those early, dare i say it... Cafe del Mar electronica string filled sounds about it, like the Sabres maybe.... well not quiet. Anyway it's loosely built and heavily atmospheric, with a subtle darker edge which makes it less throw away than it could be... check it out, see what u think...

very nice and deep jazzy flavor with a houssy piano and hypnotique progression a perfect illustration of the words another night on earth.
