In Between Days

Pianist Peter Micheal Hamel's band Between is made up of musicians from Argentina, America and Germany, they recorded 6 albums in all throughout the 70's. The sleeve notes describe the 1978 track 'Contemplation' as 'ambitious, folk-tinged prog rock', I'd add that it's also a beautiful, searching, and as the title suggests deeply thought provoking journey. Apparently based around a classic Hindustani raga, 'Contemplation' is more than just something that's on a world music tip, for me it transcends its own cultural identity and goes right up there with simply great songs.
