Signal to Noise

Padded Cell (one part Dirty Beatniks, one part Bronx Dog) do a whole other kind of Disco. Call it what you like 'Dirty Disco', 'Devil's Disco', even 'Garage Disco', it has it's roots in the past, way before dance music went all corporate and Hed Kandi, designed in part to shake things up as well as shake your ass. Their 2005 single 'Signal Failure' was a big underground hit for them and still has an effective raw Italo power, it's a little bit DFA, but also dubby and brilliantly disconnected. Interestingly the track samples Rinder & Lewis who were responsible for a great deal of truly incredible Space Disco under a variety of names. The 'Signal Failure' sample is from Rinder & Lewis' own album 'Warriors' and a number called 'Willie and the Hand Jive'. It sort of predates blogging, so maybe it hasn't been blogged yet...

Richard Sen DJed out here a few weeks ago, he was alright. His productions are great though. Did you get the Sly Mongoose remix?
