I thought it was you again

Some time back, I posted Herbie Hancock's 'I Thought It Was You', one of many great great Herbie tracks. Then I was put on the trail of a much harder to find item, which is an album that Herbie worked with Japanese Female vocalist Kamiko Kasai. 'Butterfly' came out in 1979, around the time of Herbie's underated and brilliant Disco period, this work, however, sees him in working within a slightly tamer Jazz arena, designed to highlight Kamiko's undeniable talents. The album is a classic, every track, which includes covers of Hancock and Stevie Wonder originals (amongst others), is a wonderful slice of beauty. Her & Herbie's version of his vocoder bomb 'I Thought It Was You' has enough groove for a discerning dancefloor and plenty personality for home listening too. As I love the original so much, it's great to have an alternative take as good as this. It can be pricey if you find this album and personally i think its worth it...
