the pastor moves me

I've invested in a couple of records from Light In The Attic over the years, their releases always strike me as very well researched and done with enormous care. I recently got a lovely vinyl pack of their 'Pastor T.L. Barrett and the Youth For Christ Choir Sings', which comes with an extra 7", loads of info and a L.I.T.A. Zine. It is one of the finest records I have bought for some time. A first listen to the title track of the LP 'Like A Ship... (Without A Sail)' was something not unlike my first listen to 'For Real' by Harry Flowers (the first Sad Ghost record), I was and still am very much in awe of the track's ability to reach into the very depths of my soul and move one almost to tears. It's the kind of feeling all diggers look for I'm sure, when the music communicates beyond your expectations, beyond your knowledge. I'm not a man who buys very many Gospel records, perhaps because I know so little about where to start, but if you're looking for something very funky, something deeply soulful and spiritually uplifting... this is it, the whole album is beautiful! Music for Life...
