Press Play #58 - Mista Chinn
More
than a couple of years ago I was blessed to land the b side of a
classic American Standard release with Mista Chinn, an LA based digger
and dj with real soul. That 12" has since become a minor collectors item
of it's own and it'll cost you about 30 pounds on Discogs these days. More
importantly though, Chinn is about to launch his own label (Godwrk) into the
stratosphere shortly, a venture which plans to focus on and around
classic electronic styles. I'll certainly be following it very closely, as
should you. I learned recently that Mista Chinn, The Drunk and Scotty
Coats (Rong/Stones Throw) all worked in the same record store in LA for
some time, awhile back. It's also where they would meet a young whipper
snapper called Ritesh Kumar, the guy who would later invent American
Standard.
So here i
am, once again, extremely pleased to be able to have a man like Mista
Chinn drop in on a.n.o.e.'s Press Play series, which he does with a
superb mix of classic and rare, feel good Rn'B, Soul n' Disco bombs for
your listening and dancing pleasure. The mix is the fourth in a series
he's been working on called 'Sounds Of Inspiration', this one is sub
titled 'Love Is A Hurting Thing' (and boy does it hurt, in the best
possible way). I'll leave the rest to you, check it out, hopefully
you'll love it as much as I do... Inspirational! Massive thanks to Mista
Chinn.
