Difficult Dancing

Ian Dury's 'Spasticus Autisticus' is an all out classic and I'm sure you all know it well, I've been playing it a fair bit lately and loving it all over again; superb rhythms, warm lush bits and Ian's brilliant off kilter dry delivery of some pretty hard hitting lyrics make this irrisistable. Wierdly this song was banned by the BBC in the International Year of Disabled Persons, an utterly insensitive move which hardly acknowledged Ian's own life long battle with Polio. The song would go on to be something of an underground hit with it's sublime mix of edgy 'punkiness' & Arthur Russel school of Disco beats & guitar. If you havent, by some small chance, encountered this bit of brilliance... it's time you did... my copy comes from the lovely Disco Not Disco compilation or the Part 1 12" to be more correct.
