Dollar Bin Jams

I've been wanting to tell you about a new blog for awhile now, but didn't have the time it deserves. First off, I'd like to say that in spite of remarks made, I maintain my position that many new blogs aren't interesting to me at all, because i used the word 'crap' i was accused of being negative, well i still think that many are crap (many people, I'm sure, think mine is too). It's hard to describe what makes a good blog, there is such diversity out there (a great thing) as well as 'designed for hits' fluff; good writing and art doesn't necessarily make it great, bad layout and untidy links dont ensure it's bad, it's about the content really, the soul of the blog if u like (i can see you cringing in the back - stop that!). For the record I'm talking about music blogs right!

Now a blog that gets my full support is Dollar Bin Jam's. I'm not even going to try and tell u what goes on there, i suggest u see & decide for yourself. What I have done is asked them to give u a track, not posted there, but the sort of thing u might find on DBJ. They kindly included some words about the track they're posting, so here it is...

"Here at Dollar Bin Jams we tend to root for the underdog. Not that Walter Gibbons necessarily qualifies as such, it's safe to say that the man does not receive the recognition he deserves. The single we've chosen here kicks off with those trademark qualities you'd expect on a Gibbons mix - drums, percussion and lots of effects. The track takes a while to build, teasing with bits of vocals and effects here and there until it all jumps off about 4 minutes in. Released in the early 80's, Arts & Crafts' "I've Been Searching" is arguably the last, true disco epic. Gibbons tweaks this classic Philly-style arrangement with a heavy left-field hand. It's an intense 10 minute ride and a pure example of the genius that was Walter Gibbons. Although it's been reissued recently, this is a high quality rip of the unedited original. Enjoy!
