good music never fades

I don't think I'll be doing any sort of chart of the years top releases, mainly because it's too much of a stress trying to work out what goes where in a year of spectacular music. There were more edits on the scene than ever before and those that stood out really stood out. Artists like Les Edits Du Golem, Lexx, Chow Daddy, Trusme, Runaway, Ectomorph, Todd Terje, Beard Science, Jaz, The Beat Broker, Greg Wilson and more that I'm forgetting just this minute showed us that to edit is not an end in itself, but like sampling in House music, it's a way to make their fans move to a future retro cut up fusion of appropriation and originality; the art of the found sound pushed to the extreme, not in the name of art but of Rock 'n Roll (it's all Rock 'n Roll baby). Purely devised for dancing, drifting and the pursuit of the perfect beat, the edit has come of age, and this year it became just a little despised by those taste makers, beat tasters, hunters & collectors, dj's and shop clerks who love and live to be so far ahead of the pack that they listen to music that hasn't been made yet, dance to grooves so advanced only mythical dragons can hear them. For me, I'm always going to love a good edit, like a good House or Deep House track, like the best Broken Beats bounty or the blackest Country & Soul; good music usually lasts forever, it never fades...

Here's one of my favourite from this year on Moxie, Chow Daddy's 'Never Fade', there are still copies out there, so go and buy it, 'cos both sides are beautiful...

All the best for 2008, Chris. If it's anything like 2007, I'll be spending a lot of time at ANOE!
This Chow Daddy stuff is really sweet. I hear it's Recloose in disguise - can you corroborate?
Cheers
