are you going with me?

It's probably a bit corny to post laid back Cosmo-Balearic sounds on a Sunday evening, but it doesn't get much more sublime than Pat Metheny Group's 'Are you Going With Me?'; a chugging Slo-mo, big drifter that hints at a journey into the unknown (read as Travelogue/ World Music/ Spaced Out). It comes from their 1982 'Offramp' album on ECM (tracks 1 & 2 are top stuff) and sounds like a contemporary to Vangelis circa 'Blade Runner' of the same year. I've read somewhere that Harvey has played this on occasions (also 'Au Lait' from this same album), perhaps it's true (you know... a lot has been said and written and especially sold using the ol' 'played by Harvey' trick). If he did, I can certainly see how and why.... lurvley!!!

hi chris

oldie but goldie. the live version of AYFWM from "travels" is even better, as the crowd goes nuts as soon as the intro kicks in.
you won't believe it but i used to listen to this on my headphones at night, sailing the balearic seas in the summer of 1983... even watched a whale dippin' down by the moonlight back then (talk about chillin'...)
from "offramp", i really like the au lait track, too
