diamonds on the soles ...

Can you handle more Afro? OK well this is more of an edit/remix of some unknown but authentic, dug up Afro gem. The excellent Shoe's label put out an EP of re-fiddled items called 'Afro Rock Vol.1' sometime in 2006. All three tracks are dynamite so it's no easy choice, but 'Kyen Kyen' is probably the one I like the most, though I imagine fans of this end of things would probably go for 'Afroperculator'; a bubbling, blinding, evolving, Funk, workout of note. 'Kyen Kyen' is mellower and deeper, boiling over with dubby bits. I shan't go on about how it evokes sunshine and crisp african skies and stuff, but as always it comes highly recommended. The name of the track lead me to think it might have been an edit of one of the versions of 'Kyenkyen' by Alhaji K. Frimpong - a man who has done some seriously good tracks (sadly he died in 2005), but if so, its a really small part being used or it's something else all together.. any Afro Specialists out there who can furthur enlighten me?

Shoes Edit - Kyen Kyen

It definitely uses a loop from 'Kyenkyen Bi Adi Mawu' by K. Frimpong but there is something else in there as well, might be the Omanhene version. Can't really fuck with the original though. Paul played the Percolator edit/mash-up on the flip to death, quality tune.

ez mate,

pretty sure it just cuts up 'Kyenkyen Bi Adi Mawu'. Sounds like it uses the intro then about the last 30 seconds of the track...

Peace.. Kelvin
