black gorilla
In order to redress the heavy load of expensive records featured here recently, I wanted to give you this brilliant slice of slo mo beard action, just to prove some of them do come very cheap. In this case Black Gorilla's 'Funky Jungle' happens to be on the b-side of the absolutely dire 'Gimme Dat Banana' 7" single from back in 1977 and if you check Discogs, there's one going for a Pound fifty, right now. Bargain!! (someone bought it.) I first looked into finding more of Black Gorilla when I heard the lovely 'Soul Dancer' in JAZ's 'Leather Get Going Pt2' set (which is still available on the sidebar), it was then that I came across this beauty!
I'd like to take this moment to also mention that JAZ has an album of edits, 13 of 'em, on the always quality Claremont 56 label coming out on Feb 01... unmissable! - check it here!

It was Chris, so many thanks for putting me onto it. If there's one thing better than a great tune, it's a cheap, great tune! I do love a bargain!
did this really get 6,000 downloads?
hottt damnnn
hey Scott
no definitely not its around 480 or something like that, the highest ever downloads was for 'thats what friends are for', but the version on one of ivan smagghes comps, oh and a tod terje edit...
I remember the A-side from when I was young but I can't remember the B side and the link isn't working. Is there any chance you could re-upload it? Also, my uncle is the drummer on this (I don't think he's got a copy of it anymore though!)
Hi,
I was the guitarist - all the band members are still around bar one - Diane MacDonald the lead vocalist sadly passed away recently. We had a few good years together and after an argument during a soundcheck I left, along with the brass players who then joined Fun Boy Three. Highlights were definitely watching our roadie hilariously getting knocked out on stage by a falling JBL horn box, being mooned by Bob Geldof after TOTP rehearsals, and seeing our own van wheel overtake us when driving off the IOW Ferry. Great memories - loads of joy...
Hey Martin, thanks for dropping by. How Cool. I love this song of yours. LOL brilliant stories man! I'm still trying to find a few of your records! especially Soul Dancer.. get in touch via email :)
