Arthur Russell lives on... plus Yam Who? mix and Pocketknife track...

I'm pretty psyched about this post, not only because you get a phat 320k track download and a mix from the god's (aka Yam Who?) but because at the core of these projects is Arthur Russell, a man who's life and music continues to inspire many forward thinking individuals everywhere, a man who's dubbed out Disco continues to set discerning dance floors alight.

Electric Minds (responsible for the killer Afrobutt album amongst other modern classics) are releasing 'Go Bang!: A Tribute To Arthur Russell', you should already know about this from their recent sampler 12" release, but inccase you didn't... It's a top class collection of re-cuts, remixes, cover versions of, and even entirely new tracks with key elements from, Arthur's timeless classics by a stellar bunch of artists (see here for more details). Yes of course some will tell you it's almost blasphemous to mess around with those brilliant originals, but then again the results are marvelous. So to launch this heavy weight, Electric Minds have hooked up with the very clever Lovebox to create what sounds like a real London night to remember on the 27 of this month. The line up is ridiculous; there is a Screening of Matt Wolf’s brilliant “Wild Combination” which will be introduced by Tim Lawrence and a reading from his new Arthur Russell biography, there are live performances from Killer Whale and My Tiger My Timing, and as far as dj's go, there's Maurice Fulton, Yam Who?, Faze Action, Dolan Bergin, Tom Findlay (of Groove Armada), Max Essa, Severino (from Horse Meat Disco), Stuart Patterson, The Cosmic Truth and Bill Brewster amongst others. Yowza! If you live in London get your tickets here (and report back here after with lengthy descriptions). Support this release people...

To promote the album and the party, Electric Minds have given a.n.o.e. a head start (read as you'll find it elsewhere, but not yet) with a rather superior related mix by Yam Who? I have long been a fan of the Yam's (Andy Williams & Des Morgan), since the early 2000's they've been reworking, remixing and producing some of the very finest music around, some of my all time favourites are by them. So u can imagine how thrilled I am to have em drop by here. Check out the track listing below and grab it to go...
