albatros

Here's another one of those not so hard to find, but quiet pricey records that's definitely worth hunting down if you're into oddball pop from the past. Italian band Albatros's eponymous 1975 album for CBS is for the most part pretty cheesy euro Island Disco, except the production is full of weird and interesting details. The beardy 'My Private Collection' parts one and two are just begging for an update and would be perfect for a Mindless Boogie release. Elsewhere the Latin holiday vibe on 'Ha-Ri-Ah' would fit nicely into any quality eclectic set. The track 'Africa', a Balearic soundtrack oddity, comes with an overripe monologue about escaping to  the dark continent... drop this around the beach fire, just after smoking...

Is this different from the "Volo AZ 504" CD re-release? All the tracks you mentioned are on this, though on the CD I have does not mention the part one and part two of 'Private Collection' instead it has two versions, the first (and far superior) version clocks up at ten minutes then there is a bonus track which is the single version of the track, the other bonus track is a Spanish version of 'Volo AZ 504'.

I got this album a few months ago and it has really grown on me, some of the tracks sound very Morriconesque and the others are more groove infested, certainly not simple Euro-cheese disco...whats the betting there will be a re-edit of 'Private Collection' before the year is out and certainly Mindless Boogie is the perfect label for it!...along with History Clock, Golf Channel, Codek and Endless Flight, its my favourite label.

Anyway, another sublime Another Night On Earth post, go on, spoil them, give 'the kids' the 'Private Collection' track at some point in the future!

hey saucer people, great response man. if we talk about the track enough, it might just get done properly too :)

ok as far as I can tell, that cd is the same as their album by the same name which was one of a number of repackages. the album was called 'Albatros', 'Volo AZ 504' and also 'I Grandi Successi Degli Albatros'. except i didnt know about the cd - has it been remastered? ( if you get where I'm going with this:) ), where did you get it?
