Mr El'zabar Has The Whole World In His Hands

A little earlier this year Deeper Soul Records put out Kahil El'zabar's fantastic 'Deeper Soul Remixes' double disc. I have been playing the Henrik Schwarz remix of 'He's got the whole World in his Hands' like crazy, it's an organic low slung mid tempo afro Detroit groover with a free form jazz edge to it, taking this traditional gospel number into new far out percussive heavy territories. I defy u not to start grooving where ever u hear this. Ok just because I said afro doesn't mean u should ignore it, it's easily one of the years best tracks in my opinion, but infact the entire project is damn good. It comes with remixes from Kemit Sources, Charles Webster, Osunlade, Djinji Brown & IG Culture and is simply put a deep, cosmic, futuristic, soulful and beautiful thing. Mr El'zabar has worked with Cannonball Adderly, Dizzie Gilespie & has been a part of Stevie Wonder's, Nina Simone's & even Paul Simon's bands. As a percusionist & composer this man has proved to be invaluable as a true innovator in the jazz afro set and as a Chicago based man has even been named 'Chicagoan of the year' in 2004. Ofcourse the other major talent on this track is Henrik Schwarz who transforms this beauty into a stellar item. Since the start of this blog I have urged you readers to try out some afro styled business, and have always given u new cutting edge stuff in this department, once again I say check this out and hunt down the double disc, it is a breath taking intricate, free and expressive exploration, surely a must own.
