kundalini

23 Skidoo dug William Burroughs, Fela Kuti, Pharoah Saunders, martial arts and Kodo drumming ( I got that off Wikipedia, but I guarantee you it's all true) and kinda hung around and worked with the Cab's (Caberet Voltaire) & Throbbing Gristle. I was something of a fan, though i came to them several years after they had released their brilliant experimental debut mini album 'Seven Songs' in 1982. The album was produced by Genesis P-Orridge, Peter Christopherson and Ken Thomas going as, of all things, 'Tony, Terry & David'. The opening track 'Kundalini' was an all out decleration of love to the aformentioned influences, atleast thats the way i see it now, it's certainly very much an Afro Disco item as played by this highly strung, tight and ultimately quiet influencial bunch. You might still find one or two of these edits floating about, otherwise seek out the original... Incredible track!
