floorman and friends

Nottingham Dj, Sound Engineer & Producer Tony Global aka Floorman has been quietly dropping rather excellent edits over at his blog Floorman Presents for quiet awhile now. His tastes are varied and there is an undeniable quality to his output. It comes as no surprise to discover he's been honing his talent for nearly 17 years. If you havent checked it out I think you should.

Last year Tony's Stack project with keyboard & Disco wizard Jim Baron from Crazy Penis (or Crazy P as they are now known - sorry guys it's always gonna be the 'loco
pingu ' as far as I'm concerned), classy vocalist Holly Backler (you've heard her with The Elektrons, Crazy Penis, Secret Stealth, Office Gossip and others), Gareth Bailey (he was one half of Bud Bongo along with Tim 'Love' Lee) and a bunch of other well known northen talent, produced a rather good album misleadingly called 'A Hot Disco Aubergine'. I say misleadingly because it feels rather more like 'A Hot British Modern Soul' album to me, with Acid Jazz & Deep House roots, but i know how much people also hate those terms so maybe I shouldn't go there. Before that he did a few things for Tummy Touch.

More recently Floorman's excellent blog provides a listen in on his current edits and productions; earlier on this year his re-working of Caroline Crawfords 'Coming On Strong' caused a flurry amongst beardy types, yours truly included (it featured on a mix I did for Ugly Talented). I know more than a few people who eagerly await it's release on vinyl. Right, so Floorman has given A.N.O.E. and you an outtake from his Stack album to enjoy while we await news of new releases and a possible exclusive edit for these here pages. 'No Peace' really should have been on the album, it's a lovely, breazy, Disco'ish and thoroughly British track...
