Vallefaret

Marius Vaareid has a new release out on Full Pupp called 'Vallefaret', it's a superb Cosmo Balearo affair, well... all his stuff is beautiful I reckon. The 12" also features a sublime mix from Blackbelt Andersen (with additional remix production by Prins Thomas) which manages to weld Marius' original and a deep 'n distorted, Morodoresque, thumper into one bass bin rattling, head trip; being a fan of Andersen's helps, but then again this may be the best thing he's done so far. As the remix moves on, it feels as if it's coming apart, threatening to damage your brain as it comes unglued. I love the combination of Marius' lush, synthy, Utopian, dream and Blackbelt's plowing Disco truck. There is another original from Marius on the 12" which is excellent and a digital only extra track available also, with a mix from Jarle Braathen, who pushes the tropical heat up high. Keep 'em peeled for the upcoming album from Marius, who is currently in the studio with the Prins. Excellent gear this...

Special Note: Marius has very kindly allowed me to put up his version of the track, a lovely exclusive for ya. His original is a beautiful, optimistic and uplifting synth dream scape, it's Nordic heaven... thankyou Marius!

hey El Jeff
yeah i love the original, usually do when it comes to MV's releases, i thought the remix was unusually good though..

I never got the Jarle Brethen 12", i'm usually all over the full pupp stuff, but kind of got lazy with it.. i'll definitely check it out :)
thanks

Jarle Braathen is currently also in the studio working on his solo debut album.
I have heard some of the material, and it is great stuff!
Be sure to check Ytre Rymden Dansskola if you enjoy the MV & JB stuff!

In another post I was rambling on about my favourite labels, how could I have forgot Full Pupp and Bear Funk (thanks El Jeffe) for that matter?

This and the new Prins Thomas album show just how far ahead Full Pupp is ahead of most of the sonic pack...The additional layering of more avant-garde electronica really works when you have the ability to keep it both tight and wonky in a simultaneous (but paradoxical) flow of the groove as the Blackbelt Andersen remix clearly shows.

Is it just me or does the 'Villa Farris' track sound like an 'ambient house' track circa 1990/1991? Albeit with a 21st Century aesthetic...thanks for the heads up on the Prins & Jarle collaboration, what I would give to be a fly on the wall in that studio or rather a fly on the wall armed with a digital recorder ;)

The original on this 12 " is superb!
Marius Vareid & Full Pupp are leading the way on the cosmic scene, a sparkling star that leads the way in the otherwise dark cosmic universe.
Thank you for this post Chris!
Loving your blog, nice work always

ta Eric
yeah, no doubt about Full Pupp being at the forefront of the cosmic scene. There is always good stuff around, but sonically FP are really forging ahead with new and original beats in the cosmic world. their stuff is going to be played for years to come, in a classic sort of way...
